Characterization of compounds by Evotec's scientists is carried out on a regular basis, both for hits coming out of high throughput screening campaigns as well as during cycles of compound synthesis and testing in lead identification and optimization programs.
Compounds are characterized through potency, specificity, selectivity and mechanism-of-action. Tailored assays are developed (if not available through the list of more than 250 off-the shelf assays) or fast-tracked for development in relevant target areas (e.g. kinase selectivity profiling, matrix metalloproteinase profiling and ion channel profiling).
Closed-loop processes are established for compound receipt and storage, regular testing for potency, selectivity and efficacy, quality control and the reporting of valid biological data to the project team.
