EVT 302 MAO-B inhibitor: Orally active, potent, highly selective and reversible inhibitor of MAO-B
- In development for smoking cessation; potential for disease modification in Alzheimer's disease.
- High degree of selectivity will allow dosing of EVT 302 to achieve complete inhibition of MAO-B without the liability associated with MAO-A inhibition.
First Phase II study in smoking cessation underway
MAO-B inhibition in smoker's brain
Evotec has successfully completed a Phase I safety and tolerability trial with 4 weeks dosing of EVT 302. In addition, single and repeat dose PET studies have been conducted to study brain MAO-B inhibition with EVT 302 to assist dose selection for Phase II.
Evotec commenced the first Phase II study of EVT 302 in Feb 2008 which is designed to investigate the influence of EVT 302 on craving and withdrawal symptoms after short-term deprivation of cigarettes. A second Phase II study in smoking cessation commenced in H2 of 2008.
