Jörn Aldag was nominated President and Chief Executive Officer of Evotec on 1 July 2001. He joined Evotec as Chief Financial Officer in November 1997. Through the merger with Oxford Asymmetry International plc in 2000, he led the Company from being a technology provider to being a very prestigious drug discovery and development company in the area of central nervous system diseases. He successfully focused the Company on proprietary drug research and development through the acquisition of Evotec Neurosciences in 2005 and the divesture of non-core assets for cash in 2007 (Evotec Technologies to Perkin Elmer; Chemical Development Business to Aptuit). Most recently, he executed the acquisition of Renovis, Inc., a US biopharmaceutical company. Combined, Evotec and Renovis today have what could be considered one of the strongest CNS-related pipelines in the biotech industry. Before joining Evotec he was Vice President and Finance Director of MAN Gutehoffnungshütte AG, a subsidiary of MAN AG, Munich, and Business Director of Treuhandanstalt, the German agency charged with the privatization of a part of the East German machine tool industry.

Jörn Aldag also is Chairman of the Board of Swiss company Molecular Partners AG. He holds business degrees from the Harvard Business School (1994) and the European Business School (1982).
